Tooth Veneers

Veneers are a dental procedure in which a porcelain/composite covering is placed over the outside of the tooth. Veneers are usually only placed on teeth that are visible when talking or smiling. There are two types of procedures: direct and indirect.

two Techniques

The direct technique usually involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This material costs less than porcelain but tends to wear sooner, so replacing the composite after a few years could cost more over the long term.

The indirect technique usually involves one appointment because the veneers will be fabricated using our CEREC technique. At this appointment, the teeth are prepared, images are taken, and the restoration is designed in 3D software. The thin layer is milled from a block of porcelain, baked at 2000 degrees in an oven, and polished, then the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed. Veneers are recommended for teeth that have large fillings or moderately darkened color changes.
